Has anyone been to this most wonderful part of the world? We are lucky enough to be the 4th partner in an EU funded project with Norway, Estonia and Portugal which is designed to enable visually impaired people to be dancers, choreographers and leaders in the field of movement and dance. Isabel is the curator of a symposium there in Tallinn next April 2013 and is in the process of selecting contributors from all over Europe. And Geoffrey is the photographer. We’re just back from a terrific working trip there. A major part of the beauty of the place was the food, we were taken out by our hosts to eat; ginger, beetroot, black bread, fresh fish, bowls of nourishing soup etc abound. And we were encouraged to take our time over it too. 1.5 hour lunch breaks are scheduled in already for the symposium!
The work is interesting too, as the movement work is essentially somatic, and crosses the boundaries between an inner and outer journey in movement; anything is possible a movement of the breath, meditation in the body, stillness and yoga. Which opens up possibilities for inclusion of visually impaired people.
